My Year-Round Capsule Wardrobe For All Seasons
For the past four years or so I’ve had a capsule wardrobe that gets me through the year, with a few pieces here and there replaced or added to my collection as the seasons progress. As I shared last week, I used to have a serious shopping addiction and owned way too many clothes. Having a capsule wardrobe is pretty much the complete opposite of the way I used to treat and own clothes, but I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way!
On my old blog I used to share my seasonal capsule wardrobe, which consisted out of mainly pieces that are in my year-round wardrobe and any new additions I had purchased. I usually pick about 20-25 pieces for every season and if anything is missing or needs to be replaced, I will buy something new. This keeps my capsule wardrobe fresh and versatile, while at the same time I don’t deviate too much from my style.

Some questions I have gotten over the years:
Why so few pants?
I kind of wear my favorite jeans (the black skinny jeans from Monki) all the time, so I don’t see the need for different styles. I do sometimes wear the other two pair 😉 And during the warmer months I like to wear dresses to give those jeans a break.
You have so many neutrals, don’t you want to wear more color?
I do have a lot of neutral colors and I like it that way. Neutral colors are easy to combine, won’t go out of style and look good on my fair skin, light eyes and hair. Colors that are too bold or bright don’t work for me, they wash me out. I just kind of know what I like and stick to that 😉
Why 41 items?
The number of items I have in my closet will vary slightly, but I try to never have more than 50 items. I’m comfortable with around 40-45 items, I find that this is more than enough to get me through all the seasons. I could live with less, but I also like to switch things up a bit sometimes and treat myself to something new when I find something amazing.
I will be doing more articles on my capsule wardrobe in the upcoming months. I’d love to share my tips on how to create one and how to figure out your own style. This is something I have gotten really into as it fits my values and lifestyle, as I try to live more conscious and sustainable. Having a capsule wardrobe is a great way to rise up 😉
Have you gotten into curating a capsule wardrobe yet?
