A New Moon Ritual For Manifesting
In celebration of Friday’s new moon, I’m sharing my new moon ritual that I perform at almost every new moon. It’s easy to perform and if you can spare 20-30 minutes this Friday, you can do it too!
About the new moon
Each moon cycle begins with a new moon. At this moment the sun and the moon are facing the same direction in the sky, which means that to us the moon appears dark, as it is not illuminated by the light of the sun. A moon cycle lasts roughly 29.5 days. Because of this, we have a new moon every month and sometimes even two. The new moon symbolizes a new beginning, a time to set intentions that can be manifested within the next two weeks until the full moon appears.
The energies around the new moon bring new ideas, insights and motivation with them. This is the perfect time to make plans, think ahead and to work on ourselves. There are various new moon rituals that can boost your intentions and plans. You don’t have to be religious or even very spiritual to do them. Even if you don’t believe in the power of the moon or don’t “feel” anything, it will still work. You’re basically setting intentions that you want to be manifested into reality. If you’re not very spiritual, just look at this time as a great time to set some goals that may or may not be boosted by the energy of the new moon 😉
An easy new moon ritual
You can find plenty of new moon rituals online, so feel free to make some changes to this ritual to make it your own. I love to combine meditating and journaling into one ritual. You don’t need anything besides a journal and a quiet place where you can take some time for yourself. You can keep the ritual short or make it as long as you want, adding additional steps or tools if needed. I like to use some crystals and essential oils for an additional boost and to set the ambiance.
Step 1: Prepare
I start by cleaning up a space for me to comfortably sit by myself. This can be my bed, couch or a comfy chair. I grab a couple of crystals that feel good to me, spray some essential oils around the area and make sure I won’t be disturbed for the next 30 minutes or so. You can also use other tools such as sage, candles or incense to set the mood and clear the space.
Step 2: Meditate
When I have set the mood I start meditating. Sometimes I only meditate for about 5 minutes, sometimes 15 – it really depends on how I feel and if I receive any inspiration while meditating. After I am calm and feel connected to The Universe, I will think about what I want to manifest this month. As each new moon brings a different energy with it (I usually check Cafe Astrology for info on the next new moon), I’ll try to match my intentions with the current energies. While meditating, I will visualize what I would like to manifest. When I feel good about this intention and really see it happening, I will move on to the next step.
Step 3: Writing your intentions
For this step I grab my journal (I have a special notebook for my new moon ritual) where I write my intentions on a new page. I usually set about 2-3 intentions that I start of by writing “I am thankful for…” or “I am so happy that I now…”. It helps to write out your intentions as if they already happened. If you want to manifest something, it’s important to feel as if it’s already in your reality. So feel grateful for having your intentions manifested, it will help! Finish writing your intentions by thanking The Universe (or God, the Creator – whatever feels good to you) for helping your intentions manifest into reality.
Step 4: Read your intentions out loud
When you’re done writing, read your intentions out loud. Feel gratitude and love when reading them and stay in the vibe of appreciation for a minute after this. Feel good about the words you have written down and believe that your intentions will manifest. After this I put my crystals and notebook back into their place as the ritual is finished.
I love this ritual as it’s so easy to perform. I like to think about what I want to achieve and write it down and this is the perfect time to do this. Sometimes I read through my previous intentions and realize that many of them have since come to fruition!
